NCKU Medical Libary

General Information

The National Cheng Kung University Medical Library, founded in 1984, was first located in the Sci-Tech Building of the Chien Kuo Campus. In 1989, the Library was moved into the newly established Medical College Building. Serving as a medical resource center, the Library supports the research, educational, and clinical needs of the faculty, students, and staff of the Medical College and its affiliated hospital. It houses the collections of 133,834volumes, 7,624E-journals , and 630 printed journal in subscription. This library, completely wired for computer connectivity, provides networked access to databases and resources.

Floor plan

The Library occupies 4,428 square meters (ca. 47,664 square feet), extended over two floors.

First Floor:

Circulation Desk, New Books, The Archive, Photocopy Room, Reference Desk, Information Search Area, Reference Collections, Takeda Study, Leisure Reading area, Periodicals Current Issues, Multimedia Collections, Computer room, Microforms, and Office.

Second Floor:

Chinese Books, Foreign Books, Japanese Books, Bound Periodicals, Individual Study Rooms, Study Carrels area, Discussion Rooms, and Problem-based learning Room.

Special Collections--Takeda Study

Under the efforts of the former Dean of the Medical College, Dr. Kun-Yen Huang, the Takeda Study, sponsored by Takeda Chemical Industries, Ltd., is established to broaden the views and knowledge along with the expertise of the students, teachers, and medical staff. The collection consists of medical-related publications covering ethics, history, biographies and novels. The Takeda Study sets an outstanding example of the efforts to nurture culture among highly specialized professionals.
